Development and optimization of a patient-friendly lidocaine nanoemulgel for enhanced skin permeation

  • Poster

AAPS - oct 2026

Vaibhavi Bhoyarekar, Masumi Dave, Karan Siyodia

In this study, we developed and characterized a lidocaine nanoemulgel with enhanced topical delivery performance. Nanoemulgels combine the advantages of nanoemulsions, including improved drug solubilization and skin permeation, with the favorable properties of hydrogels, such as improved skin retention, ease of application, and patient acceptability. Three excipients—Labrasol® ALF, Capryol® 90, and Transcutol® P were selected to develop nanoemulgels given their emulsifying, solubilizing, and permeation-enhancing properties.

Tablet lipid-based drug delivery through adsorption process: development and use of a stepwise methodology

The study aimed to develop a methodology for selecting inert carriers to adsorb lipid-based formulations (LBFs), thereby optimizing the oral bioavailability of BCS Class II/IV APIs in tablets. Integrating a lipid matrix consisting of Labrasol ® ALF and Labrafac™ MC60 successfully modulated the release kinetics of ticagrelor, proving to be a highly effective strategy for optimized drug availability.

TIM-1, a gastro-intestinal model, is a powerful and highly biorelevant in vitro tool, closely mimicking human gastro-intestinal physiology by integrating transit, motility, pH changes, bile salt and enzyme secretions. This model enabled detailed evaluation of lipid-based formulations under dynamic conditions, providing insights that go beyond standard in vitro tests.

Ear cleanser and fluid bi-gel as complementary formulations of an otic care platform for pets

ABCF - oct 2026

Paulo Cunha, Kelly Bueno

This study shows how to develop and preliminarily characterize an emulsifying ear cleanser and a drug-loaded fluidbi-gel as complementary formulations for veterinary otic care.

This poster evaluates different in vitro tools, ranging from simple to highly complex models (dissolution, lipolysis, and TIM), to characterize lipid-based formulations. The results show that each model captures different biopharmaceutical phenomena depending on its level of complexity, meaning that no single tool provides a complete picture.

Transcutol® V, a must-have, safe and versatile excipient for optimised veterinary medicines

  • Whitepaper

International Animal Health Journal  - jui 2026

Cécile Morin

In this whitepaper, we focus on Transcutol® V, a powerful solvent, solubiliser and penetration enhancer, largely used across major animal species and in a variety of dosage forms. The main properties of Transcutol® V are described in comparison to other solvents used in veterinary medicines worldwide. Applications in oral, skin and injectable drug delivery are illustrated through market references and case studies elaborated in our Technical Centres of Excellence.
