Drug Delivery Innovations With Self-Emulsifying Technologies (3:15 PM – 3:45 PM)
Abstract: In anhydrous form, self-emulsifying technologies are often referred to as SEDDS, SMEDDS, or SNEDDS which are known to improve drug solubility, dispersibility in aqueous media, and to improve bioavailability by the oral route of administration. In the hydrated form, they are called micro/nanoemulsions which may be designed to improve drug permeation/absorption via the dermis or by mucosal cell walls. This presentation underlines the enormous potential of self-emulsifying technologies for customizing innovation depending on the drug properties and the intended drug delivery systems. The aim of this presentation is to highlight the simplicity as well as the sophistication self-emulsifying systems can bring to drug delivery innovation.
