Silkaress™

Resilience wrapped in softness

Access resources

Description

Silkaress™ mirrors the softness and protective properties of silk, helping to build an adaptive cutaneous cocoon against environmental stressors.

It helps the skin adapt to unpredictable environmental changes, supporting its ability to withstand shifting climatic conditions. By modulating cell phosphorylation, Silkaress™ reinforces skin resilience, enabling a rapid response to external stressors while preserving the integrity of the skin barrier.

Clinical studies confirm its efficacy in strengthening barrier function and improving hydration. The result is skin that looks visibly restructured, smoother, and wrapped in a soft, comforting veil of protection.

Mechanism of action

As the global climate continues to shift, its effects are being felt not only in the environment but directly on our skin.
Rising temperatures, increasing UV radiation or pollution, and fluctuating humidity levels are accelerating changes in skin health, driving demand for adaptive skincare solutions.

By combining phosphoproteomics with bioinformatics, Silkaress™ has been proven to modulate cell phosphorylation within the epidermis, one of the most powerful adaptation system in cells. The regulation of key signaling pathways for epidermal cohesion and vitality contributes to reinforce the skin barrier for better epidermal resilience. Its effects have been confirmed on a 3D climate-stressed model.

Clinical evaluation

Two parallel clinical trials were run to assess the cosmetic efficacy of a cream containing Silkaress™.

They confirmed its efficacy in strengthening the barrier function and improving hydration. The result is skin that looks visibly restructured, smoother, and wrapped in a soft, comforting veil of protection.

Sourcing

Gattefossé’s researchers drew inspiration from the silkworm, which builds a silk cocoon thanks to the nutrients it metabolizes from white mulberry (Morus alba) leaves exclusively. The complex
alchemy between the insect and the plant results in a naturally engineered soft and protective material.
It is in the heart of the biodiversity reserve of the Cévennes National Park, cradle of the French sericulture, that Gattefossé sources high-quality white mulberry leaves.
