1,3-Propanediol is an excellent natural alternative to petroleum-based glycols (propylene glycol, butylene glycol, or methyl propanediol) and glycerine. In cosmetics, 1,3-Propanediol is a multipurpose ingredient, acting as an emollient, humectant, booster, solvent, viscosity enhancer, and carrier for actives. 1.3-Propanediol is also miscible with the majority of glycols and alcohols, as well as water, and gives better performance in both skin and hair moisturization when compared to standard glycols. Well suited to sensitive skin, even at high concentration, 1,3-Propanediol meets the many standards of modern cosmetic formulations.

The agreement, which is effective immediately, will allow Gattefossé to expand its natural product offering for Canadian customers.
