Gattefossé Foundation supported the NGO "SUPPORT" in Mumbai during five years by financing part of a significant medical programme implemented by doctors and nurses.
Sujata Ganega has been head of the NGO for more than twenty years. She describes the situation of the street children, a genuine social scourge – “It is estimated that there are over 200,000 children on the streets…” and explains her technique for reintegrating the children into society.
When they are accepted for care, the children on the streets in Mumbai suffer from many diseases that need to be treated before they can be placed in a more general detoxification and reintegration programme. Care is provided in a residential centre or in the NGO’s day centres.
